Russian forces in southern Ukraine look to secure Dnipro crossings and halt Kyiv’s advance

As the Ukrainian Air Force continues to chip away at Russian defenses in southern Ukraine, Moscow’s troops are attempting to secure vital Dnipro River crossings, the Ukrainian military’s South Operational Command said in a Facebook post on Aug. 3.

Furthermore, Russia is building up an assault force near Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, the command said.

According to the message, the Ukrainian Air Force successfully intercepted three Russian cruise missiles over Mykolayiv Oblast, and carried out four attack sorties, striking Russian defenses and staging grounds in the region.

Ukraine’s General Staff said that, across the south, Russian forces are utilizing their artillery and rocket systems to attempt and tie down the building Ukrainian counter-offensive.

Two Russian warships remain on station in the Black Sea, threatening targets across Ukraine with long-range Kalibr cruise missiles.
