Invading Russian forces are holding 232 residents of Zaporizhzhya Oblast captive, regional governor Oleksandr Starukh reported on the Telegram messenger on Dec. 11.
“Numerous facts of human rights violations and violence were documented over nine months of the war,” he said.
“As many as 573 of our compatriots survived Russian captivity, 232 are still held hostage. At the same time, international organizations demonstrate their helplessness regarding the violation of the right to life and safety.”
Another prisoner swap took place on Dec. 6, with 60 Ukrainian servicemen – including defenders of the port city of Mariupol and those from a Russian prisoner-of-war camp in the occupied village of Olenivka, Donetsk Oblast – released from Russian captivity.
In total, 60 soldiers of the armed forces, the National Guard, and the State Board Guard Service – 58 men and two women, 15 officers and 45 privates and sergeants – returned home.
