Invading Russian forces may stage terrorist attacks, blowing up residential areas of Ukrainian villages and towns while retreating, Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of Ukraine’s General Staff Oleksiy Hromov said at a briefing on Oct. 27.
Hromov said Russian troops may cause critical damage to the infrastructure of settlements before Ukraine regains control over them.
He also noted that in view of the latest Russian allegations that Ukraine plans to use a “dirty bomb,” the invaders may resort to a false flag operation, namely to blow up the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) to finally put it out of order and cause a local man-made disaster.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on Oct. 23 held phone talks with his French, British and Turkish counterparts during which he expressed “concern” to all three colleagues that Ukraine was allegedly preparing false flag attacks with the use of a “dirty bomb.”
He was referring to a nuclear weapon that functions more to spread deadly radioactive material than to cause explosive damage.
Ukraine categorically denies such claims, and Shoigu provided no evidence to back up his claims. Ukraine’s allies have rejected Shoigu’s claims as false.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba held talks with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, who agreed to send experts to Ukraine’s nuclear facilities, where – according to Russian propaganda – a “dirty bomb” is being developed.
