Russian invaders shell ammonia plant in northwestern Ukraine, cause leak
Invading Russian forces shelled the Sumykhimprom chemical plant in the
city of Sumy, causing an ammonia leak, local
emergency services reported, while stating that there was currently no threat to
civilian health from the resulting
ammonia cloud.
The shelling damaged one ammonia storage tank, and injured one factory employee.
The leak was detected at 0430, with the affected area having a radius of about 2.5 kilometers.
As of 0730, technicians were working to patch up the damaged tank, and State Emergency Service units are continuing efforts to disperse the ammonia cloud.
