The Russian invasion forces have been enhanced in the area of Zaporizhzya but there are offensive efforts as of yet, Head of the Ukrainian Joint Press Center of the Tavrisk Direction Defense Forces, Yevhen Yerin, said on Ukrainian national television on Jan. 26.

"If more forces and reserves are added, this group may become an offensive force," Yerin said.

According to him, the core of the group is made up of mechanized units and territorial defense troops.

Tavrisk Direction Defense Forces earlier reported there had been a minor Russian offensive effort, but that it had not been a success.

Yerin said that while the Russian army has been reinforced in the Zaporizhzhya area, it did not have enough resources to launch a massive assault.

On Jan. 23, Ukraine's General Staff reported that Russia had attempted to assault in the Zaporizhzhya area and had suffered losses.
