Russia has been seen building up its forces in the directions of Kupyansk, Bohoduhiv, and Belgorod (a Russian regional capital bordering Ukraine), Kharkiv Oblast Governor Oleh Synehubov said in a comment to Ukrainian Suspilne TV.

"There's some kind of an intensification of military activities in the Kreminna direction, as Ukraine's General Staff reported,” he said.

“The front line is virtually there. In regard to other parts of the oblast, we can see personnel concentration and some maneuvering in the direction of Bohoduhiv and Belgorod. The Ukrainian army responds and takes respective measures.”

According to the governor, an increase in shelling can be explained by Russia’s efforts to maximally expand the front line and not to let Ukraine pull troops in one or two directions.

Synehubov added a new offensive attempt from the Russian border direction can't be ruled out either. However, it's unknown when and if it will happen.

The governor stressed that Kharkiv Oblast is ready to defend itself from the occupiers.
