The Russian military aimed to capture Kyiv under the guise of conducting strategic military exercises, Ukrainian intelligence revealed via Telegram messenger on April 14, saying that they have evidence, in the form of documents, to that effect.

Specifically, Ukrainian intelligence claims that these goals were stated in a combat order received by the commander of the Russian 96th Separate Reconnaissance Brigade, and sent from the headquarters of the 1st Tank Army of the Russian Western Military District.

“In particular, a grouping of Russian forces Center, operated in Chernihiv and Sumy directions, was given the order to capture the left-bank part of Kyiv,” Ukrainian intelligence says.
