Russian missile attack on Slovyansk kills at least 3, injures 6 — regional admin head

Russian forces launched a missile attack on Slovyansk in Donetsk Oblast early on May 31, killing three people and wounding six, said the head of the regional military administration Pavlo Kyrylenko on Facebook.

A school and at least seven residential high-rise buildings were damaged, Kyrylenko said.

Rescue work is currently underway. The exact number of casualties will be determined after onsite work is completed.

Kyrylenko also urged residents of the region to evacuate.

“I repeat once again that there are no safe places in the Donetsk Oblast, so I call on you again to evacuate — in order to save your lives,” he said.

“(Russian dictator Vladimir) Putin is waging a war to exterminate Ukrainians.”

The day before, the Ministry of Defense reported that Russian invasion forces were preparing to attack Slovyansk. At the moment, about 30,000 inhabitants remain in the city.
