Thirteen people were injured in Ukraine as a result of cruise missile attacks launched by the Russian Federation on Ukraine in the morning of Oct. 31, the head of the National Police Ihor Klymenko has said on Ukrainian national television.
“At the moment, we have 13 people who were injured as a result of today’s attacks by the Russian Federation,” he said.
The three-hour raid started at 7.00 a.m., and saw 44 cruise missiles out of 50 shot down by Ukrainian air defenses. However, some missiles did reach their targets, and a hit to an energy facility in Kyiv Oblast knocked out power to 350,000 residents of the Ukrainian capital.
Some 80% of houses in the capital were left without water due to the attack as well.
The police, together with the SBU and the prosecutor’s office, will establish the extent of the damage and record which crimes were committed today by Russia on the territory of Ukraine, Klymenko said.
Missiles attacks were also reported in the cities of Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhya, as well as in Cherkasy, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Chernivtsi, and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts. In many areas, Ukrainian air defense forces were heard shooting down Russian missiles.
Explosions from air defense missiles shooting down incoming cruise missiles were heard in the city of Kyiv, as well as in Poltava and Vinnytsia oblasts.
