Invading Russian forces launched an attack on the city of Zaporizhzhya in the afternoon of March 22, hitting a multi-story building, according to a report by Ukrainian public broadcaster Suspilne Zaporizhzhya.
Suspilne Zaporizhzhya posted photos and footage of the aftermath of the attack on Telegram messenger, which shows numerous destroyed apartments, shattered windows, and fires licking out through blackened balconies.
25 people are known to have been affected by the strike as of publication time, including two children – seven and nine years old respectively. According to Suspilne, eleven of the victims have been hospitalized, with three in critical condition – one having passed away during emergency treatment.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy shared footage of exact moment the missile struck the apartment building.
“Zaporizhzhya. Right now, a Russian missile hit a multi-story building,” he wrote on Facebook.
“Russia is shelling the city with bestial savagery. Residential areas where ordinary people and children live are being fired at. The terrorist state seeks to destroy our cities, our state, our people.”
