Occupying Russian forces abducted nearly 500 civilians in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, and over 200 are still being held captive, regional governor Oleksandr Starukh told Ukrainian TV broadcasters on Sep. 4.
“People are getting abducted, we have confirmation of almost 500 (cases); more than 200 people are still captive,” said Starukh.
“That’s the situation in our communities, across occupied territories.”
According to the Governor, contact with some schools in the region has been lost.
“Some schools in occupied areas are closed; almost 40 out of 400 schools are shuttered, there’s no contact with them at all,” he added.
“People who fled to government-controlled areas have their kids schooled remotely.”
