Russian occupiers plan air strike on Saint Sophia Cathedral, says primate
The Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church said it was informed that Russian forces were preparing an air strike on St. Sophia Cathedral in central Kyiv, its press service reports.
The UGCC leader, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, appealed to all Christians to pray for the spiritual sanctuary of the Slavic peoples and called on the Russian occupiers to refrain from this horrific act of vandalism.
"May St. Sophia, the Wisdom of God, bring to their senses those who have planned to commit this crime," said His Beatitude Sviatoslav.
March 1 marks the sixth day since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine began. Talks between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations that took place yesterday have not yet resulted in a cessation of hostilities.
