Russian media reports about the “evacuation” of German diplomats from Kyiv are fake news, German Ambassador to Ukraine Anka Feldhusen said at a briefing on Oct. 19.

“Other embassies have asked us if we’re really working, because the Russian narrative is that we’ve already fled again,” she said.

“But it’s not like that. It’s actually fake news, and we’re trying to show through all messengers, through tweets, presence at various events, that we’re here, in Kyiv, and working.”

According to Feldhusen, the German embassy is working as usual.

“We’re all here as planned,” the diplomat said.

“We have very different tasks, just like before these attacks. We stand side by side with Ukrainian society, and I’m really impressed by how calmly, especially Kyiv residents, are going through all this.”

Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Oleh Nikolenko said many false narratives have recently been released about the work of foreign diplomatic missions in Ukraine, mostly by Russian mass media, in order to sow panic among the population.
