The Russian military fired seven rockets at the residential districts of the city of Zaporizhzhia, killing two women and wounding a three-year-old girl, regional governor Oleksandr Starukh reported on Telegram on Oct. 6.
One woman of the victims died on the spot, and another in an ambulance. 10 people were injured. The three year old girl has been hospitalized, Starukh reported.
At least five people are believed to remain under the rubble, and numerous residential structures have been damaged or destroyed.
Rescue operations continues at the scene.
A second rocket attack followed in the afternoon, though no details were available at time of publication.
Acting Zaporizhzhia Mayor Anatoliy Kurtev noted that the Russian projectiles also struck a numbers infrastructure facilities.
"Damned rascists do not leave the city in peace,” Kurtev stated, using a term that has become a popular portmanteau of Russian and fascist.
