Car bomb injures Russian officer in occupied Sevastopol

A car exploded with a Russian serviceman inside in temporarily occupied Sevastopol, Crimea, on Sept. 2, according to Telegram channel Crimean Wind.
According to the channel, the incident occurred near building No. 22/3 on Kolobova Street.
The channel said the explosion occurred at around 6:45 a.m. According to preliminary information, a homemade explosive device with a yield of approximately 400 grams (about 14 ounces) of TNT equivalent detonated in a Mazda vehicle.
The Russian soldier was injured in the blast and taken to a hospital in serious condition. Russian security forces have already removed the vehicle from the scene for forensic examination. Pro-Kremlin propaganda outlets reported that the injured man is believed to be a Russian officer.
According to Crimean Wind, Russian servicemen had previously received apartments in the area around Kolobova Street. Locals said the sound of the explosion was heard on neighboring streets.
Initial reports about the incident were conflicting, and Russian security forces cordoned off the street that morning. Some witnesses suggested a car had exploded, while others believed a drone had crashed.
Overnight into Aug. 29, a car belonging to Dmitry Neyelov, first deputy head of the Olenivka penal colony, exploded in temporarily occupied Donetsk. Ukrainian law enforcement suspects Neyelov of war crimes, including the torture of Ukrainian prisoners of war and civilians. According to media reports, an explosive device may have been planted under the vehicle. No information about Neyelov's condition is currently available.
