Russian invasion forces have struck the center of Beryslav, Kherson Oblast, regional governor Yaroslav Yanushevych reported on Telegram on the morning of Jan. 2. 

Five people were injured as a result of the local market being hit.

"Probably, a tank was fired from the (other) side of (the Dnipro River, from) temporarily occupied Kakhovka," the head of the regional military administration said.

Yanushevych added that three of the five victims are in serious condition. They will be evacuated to Kherson, where doctors will provide the victims with the necessary medical care.

The Russian army regularly attacks Kherson Oblast. On New Year's Eve, the city of Kherson was left without electricity.

As a result of shelling on the night of Jan. 1, one person was killed and another wounded. In Kherson, the buildings of the regional children's hospital were damaged: about seven hits were recorded, and more than 700 windows were broken.
