People rescued from rubble in Sumy after Russia attacks three Ukrainian regions overnight

Three people were injured and a two-story building was reduced to rubble after Russia launched attacks on several Ukrainian cities in the early hours of Sept. 8, reported the Sumy Oblast Military Administration.
Cities in Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, and Odesa oblasts were targeted.
Over 20 buildings and eight vehicles sustained damages, and a fire broke out due to the attacks in Sumy Oblast.
Thanks to the tireless effort of rescue workers, two people were saved that had initially been trapped under the debris.
Firefighters managed to extinguish the ensuing blaze.
In Zaporizhzhya, the Russian military’s assault resulted in at least one casualty, said acting mayor Anatoliy Kurtev.
The resulting shockwaves caused windows in multiple high-rise residential and educational buildings to shatter.
Windows were shattered in 30 high-rise buildings and three educational institutions, he later pointed out.
Several regions in Ukraine were under an air raid alert overnight following the launch of Iranian Shahed kamikaze drones by Russian forces.
In addition to Sumy, reports of explosions were heard in Odesa Oblast. Ukrainian air defense managed to intercept 16 out of the 20 attack drones.
The situation remains tense as the attacks continue to exacerbate the already dire humanitarian crisis in the area.
