Russian fighter jet crashes into apartment building in Yeysk, Russia

A Russian Su-34 military aircraft crashed into an apartment building in the town of Yeysk in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai, killing at least one person and injuring three more, including a child, Russian independent media outlet The Insider reported, citing Russian telegram channel Mash, on Oct. 17.

The pilot is believed to have ejected prior to the crash.

Russia’s Ministry of Defense confirmed the Su-34’s crash, and stated that the pilots were carrying out a training flight launched from a nearby military airfield belonging to Russia’s Southern Military District and crashed in the process, the Russian RBC Media news outlet reported.

Meanwhile, the Telegram channel 112 stated that the plane was fully loaded with ammunition and that the explosion damaged at least 15 apartments. 

The Insider adds that according to their estimates, since the start of the full-scale military invasion of Ukraine, non-combat losses of Russian Aerospace Forces’ aircraft have amounted to 12 units.
