Russian troops are being redeployed from occupied Melitopol towards the city of Kherson, the mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov, said during an interview with Ukrainian TV on June 8.

Fedorov said that there were practically no checkpoints left in Vesele, Pryazovske, Mykhailivka and Berdyansk districts.

"They are hastily moving towards Kherson, where our heroic Armed Forces are liberating the occupied territories," he said.

Earlier, on June 7, Oleksandr Starukh, head of the Zaporizhzhya Regional Military Administration, announced that the Russian occupiers were withdrawing troops from Melitopol and parts of Vasylivka districts.
