Occupying Russian forces are deploying landmines around Severodonetsk, Luhansk Oblast, while numerous unexploded shells are still scattered around residential areas of the city, head of Severodonetsk City Military Administration, Oleksandr Stryuk, said in a Telegram post on Nov. 30.
“The area around the city is mined by invaders,” Stryuk wrote.
“No comprehensive sweeping for explosive devices was carried out in residential areas –unexploded shells have been lying near houses there for months.”
He added that on eve of winter, workers were brought to Severodonetsk in order to connect some buildings to utilities.
According to Stryuk, Russian collaborators in the city are feeling tense over Ukraine’s successful counteroffensives in the south.
“Collaborators in the city are feeling tense as the front line moves closer; we are waiting for good news from the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” he concluded.
Earlier, the head of Luhansk Regional Military Administration, Serhiy Hayday, said that the Ukrainian military had successes while fighting around Svatove and Kreminna – not far from Severodonetsk and Lysychansk.
