The Russian army is continuing to pull its reserves to the area of the city of Mariupol in the Russian-occupied part of Ukraine’s Donetsk Oblast, an advisor to the mayor of Mariupol, Petro Andriushchenko, has said.
He said about 15,000 Russian soldiers were relocated to the region in the past week alone.
He added that the invaders had informed the locals about their "plans to launch offensives in the directions of Zaporizhzhya and Vuhledar.”
"The final touch is the arrival of Kadyrovtsy's unit (Chechnya's paramilitary organisation) in the amount of 2,000 or 3,000 in a coastal village,” Andriushchenko said.
“They could be a blocking unit for a potential assault as no major Russian Guard's operations are foreseen either in Mariupol or the district."
On Feb. 1, a convoy of Russian invasion force trucks headed into the directions of Manhush and Berdyansk, to the west of Mariupol.
