A Russian military unit has had its deployment to Ukraine halted, after some of its soldiers reportedly raped three schoolgirls in Russia’s Belgorod, an audio intercept, published by Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence on Aug. 19.

The intercepted conversation suggests a Russian soldier is frustrated that his replacement is delayed, since his entire unit previously resigned from service.

“Those who were supposed to come and replace us raped three girls in Belgorod; 14, 15, and 17 years of age,” the soldier can be heard telling his mother.

“Nobody’s getting deployed here anymore. Because they rape people.”

The mother was in apparent disbelief about Russian troops being capable of this kind of conduct:

“Really? Our soldiers? Horrific. Way to f...k up, huh,” she replied.
