Russian troops once again made an attempt to break through near the town of Bakhmut, Donetsk Oblast, but again failed, Ukraine’s Defense Ministry reported on the Telegram messenger on Feb. 1.
“The invaders suffered yet another failure in their attempt to break through near Bakhmut,” the report reads.
The department added that such attempts by the Russians have become regular.
“They are literally pelting Ukrainian positions with meat,” the Ukrainian military said.
“They’re pushing forward like zombies.”
Bakhmut remains one of the hottest spots on the front. Russian forces are continuing their attempts to capture it, but Ukrainian forces are fighting back.
Spokesman for the Eastern Group of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Serhiy Cherevatyi said on Feb. 1 that Russian troops had shelled Ukrainian positions near Bakhmut 151 times over the past day.
At the same time, the enemy suffered significant losses, with 360 soldiers being killed and 290 wounded, the Ukrainian military said.
