Russian invaders conducted attacks near the port in Mariupol and could be preparing for a naval landing operation, Ukraine’s General Staff said on April 17.

Elsewhere, the invading forces are continuing their partial blockade of Kharkiv and firing on the city’s residential areas.

Mariupol remains the target of Russian air strikes.

“Regiments of Russia’s 810th and 155th marine brigades are preparing for a naval landing operation; more details are coming in,” said the General Staff.

Chernihiv and Sumy regions remain under threat of Russian missile strikes. Intelligence suggests that Russia’s FSB security service has inspected the combat readiness of several infantry brigades in Moldova’s Transnistria region and deemed them unfit for combat operations.

Russian Battalion Tactical Groups continue to be deployed to Ukraine from Russia’s Kursk, Bryansk, and Voronezh oblasts. These arriving regiments are hampered by supply line issues, but have amassed considerable ammunition reserves, Ukraine’s General Staff said.
