The Russian military struck seven communities in Sumy Oblast with mortar shells during the day on Feb. 28, with a total of 106 hits being recorded, the region’s military administration reported on Telegram.
Russian troops fired at the territories around the settlements of Bilopillia, Novoslobidska, Krasnopilska, Seredyno-Buda, Esmanska, Shalyhynska, and Velykopysarivska – all close to the Russian border.
The Russians used VOG grenades and mortars in their attacks. Residential buildings were damaged, but no one was injured.
At the same time, no overnight attacks were recorded in Sumy Oblast.
The Russian military have frequently attacked border communities in Chernihiv, Sumy and Kharkiv oblasts in the north and east of Ukraine since being forced to retreat from them in early April (Chernihiv and Sumy) and September (Kharkiv).
The Russians have also regularly attacked the liberated city of Kherson and towns in Kherson Oblast in the south since being forced to retreat from part of the oblast.
