Russian troops attacked Dnipropetrovsk Oblast's Nikopol district in the early hours of Jan. 4, hitting Nikopol residential quarters with heavy artillery, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Governor Valentyn Reznichenko said on Telegram on Jan. 4.

Russians launched about ten missiles to strike the residential area, he said.

No casualties were reported.

Several residential buildings and household facilities in Nikopol were damaged. A car, a gas pipeline, and a power line were also damaged.

Russian troops systematically shell towns and villages of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. Over the past six months, only three nights in the oblast passed without sirens and shelling.

In the early hours of Jan. 2, Russia attacked Ukraine with missiles and kamikaze drones. In Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, they struck Nikopol and Marhanets. Ukrainian air defense forces shot down three enemy drones over the region, as well as an X59 missile. The missile was flying towards the city of Dnipro.

Nikopol was also under attack early on Jan. 3.
