Invading Russian troops lose about two companies per day in the battles for the towns of Avdiivka and Mariinka in Donetsk Oblast, the spokesperson for Tavria axis military group, Colonel Oleksiy Dmytrashkivskyi, said on national television on April 10.

"Positional fighting is ongoing near Mariinka and Avdiivka, success is alternating as we are regaining all our positions that the enemy has managed to seize,” he explained.

“Russia suffers colossal losses of around two companies of personnel per day, but it doesn't lose hope.”

Captured Russian troops said that they had been sent into battle by "not sober enough commanders without any training," the spokesperson added.

"They wake the personnel up in the middle of the night and send them at gunpoint to storm [Ukrainian] positions," Dmytrashkivskyi said.

The towns of Bakhmut, Mariinka, and Avdiivka remain the hottest spots on the frontline, embroiled in constant fighting. The Ukrainian Armed Forces continues to hold its positions despite repeated Russian assaults, military authorities have said.
