Ukraine’s SBU security service has detained a Russian agent who was collecting intelligence on the defense of the Pivdennoukrainsk Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), the agency reported on Telegram on April 10.
In particular, the agent gathered information on the deployment and quantity of the Ukrainian military units guarding the facility.
According to the SBU, the Russian invaders require this classified data to prepare targeted missile strikes at Ukrainian energy facilities. However, their agent detained while photographing critical infrastructure.
The SBU claims that the agent is a local resident who was recruited by the Russian special services in early 2023. The suspect has been charged with treason.
