Ukraine has seized the property of Russian businessman Nikolai Serdyuk, who helped to finance Russian scientific testing grounds and training centers, where the invaders tested their combat aircraft and missiles, Ukraine’s SBU security service’s press service reported on Twitter on Feb. 28.
The law enforcement officers noted that a court’s decision on the seizures covers six companies involved in the production and development of drilling equipment, as well as ones involved in the production of agricultural products in Kyiv and Sumy oblasts.

The total value of seized assets is UAH 60 million ($1.5 million).
It has been established that Serdyuk is the owner of the Moscow Research Plant of Drilling Equipment and the water processing plant Gidroinzhstroy and belongs to the inner circle of the leaders of the financial and industrial groups of the Kremlin.
Following his instructions, Ukrainian enterprises under his control produced high-tech products for drilling oil and gas wells and sold them abroad.

The SBU added that Serdyuk tried to “rewrite” his own enterprises to nine representatives of controlled commercial structures in order to hide his business in Ukraine after the full-scale invasion.

The suspect also created two new companies in Sumy Oblast and in one in an EU country to illegally withdraw his profits from Ukraine.

During searches of offices, production and storage facilities and residences in Kyiv and Sumy, law enforcement officers found:
· accounting records;
· draft records;
· mobile phones and computer equipment with evidence of illegal activity.
The detainee is to be charged under part 2 of Art. 110−2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — financing of actions committed for the purpose of violent change or overthrow of the constitutional order or seizure of state power.
Under this article, punishment in the form of deprivation of liberty is provided for a term of five to seven years.
