The Russian military has fired on Ukrainian settlements near Luhansk – including Severodonetsk, Lysychansk, Hirske, Pryvillia, and Popasna – ten times over the past day, Luhansk Governor Serhiy Haidai said in a Telegram post on April 29.

According to the post, Lysychansk was shelled four times, and Popasna twice. Hirske is under relentless Russian artillery barrages, Haidai said.

Every town in the oblast has sustained damage to both industrial and residential buildings, the governor added.

Fighting for control over Orikhovo, Ukrainian forces are defending against advancing Russian troops near Svitlychne.

“Our troops are defending well, but the Russians are unleashing every barrel they have on (our) towns, decimating buildings and infrastructure, making it impossible to repair electricity, water, and natural gas supplies,” said Haidai.

Popasna, Rubizhne, Severodonetsk – among others – are contested in Luhansk oblast. The invaders managed to take the town of Kreminna recently, while reducing it to rubble.
