Russians shell Kherson Oblast 71 times in 24 hours, leaving 16 dead and 64 wounded

As a result of Russian strikes on Kherson and the oblast on Dec. 24, 16 people were killed and 64 were wounded to various degrees of severity, Yaroslav Yanushevych, head of Kherson Oblast Military Administration (OVA) reported on Dec. 25.

On Dec. 24, Russian troops shelled the center of Kherson from Grad multiple launch rocket systems. The OVA reported the death of ten people with another 68 wounded, including 18 in serious condition.

In total, Russian forces attacked Kherson 41 times. Among the 16 dead in the oblast are three employees of the State Emergency Service, who were killed during demining operations in the Beryslav district.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the Russian attack on Kherson terror and murder “for the sake of intimidation and pleasure.” Meanwhile, Ukrainian law enforcement officers have begun a pretrial investigation on charges of war crimes and mass murder.
