Ukrainian Railways has launched the Darnytsa-Svyatoshin shuttle rail service to connect the right and left banks of Kyiv across the Dnipro River, the municipal government announced on March 21.

The hourly light rail service, which will connect the stations of Darnytsa on the left bank and Svyatoshin on the right, will run from 0730 to 1830. The stops along the route include: Left Bank, Vydubychi, Kyiv-Demyivski, Protasiv Yar, Kyiv-Pass, Karavayevi Dachi, Kyiv-Volynskyi, and Borschahivka.

The fare is set at UAH 15 ($0.51).

The light rail service was created as Kyiv’s subway no longer services the entire city, due to the city’s underground stations being converted into bomb shelters, and the fact that metro trains no longer operate on the overground sections of the lines - including over the bridges connecting the Left and Right Banks of Kyiv.
