Despite the Russian bombing of the Donetsk Regional Theater of Drama in Mariupol, the civilians hiding there managed to survive, local MP Serhiy Taruta wrote in a Facebook post on March 17.

Despite the Russian bombing of the Donetsk Regional Theater of Drama in Mariupol, the civilians hiding there managed to survive, local MP Serhiy Taruta wrote in a Facebook post on March 17.

“After a terrible night of uncertainty on the morning of the 22nd day of the war, finally good news from Mariupol! The bomb shelter withstood! The blockages have begun to be dismantled and people are coming out alive!” wrote the MP.

While this information has yet to be officially confirmed, presidential advisor Oleskiy Arestovich stated that the Ukrainian authorities are currently at-tempting to determine if there were any casualties as a result of the attack, though this process is complicated by the ongoing combat in the city.
