Kyiv’s Western partners are finally beginning to mull making modern fighter jets available to Ukraine, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba told Ukrainian TV broadcasters on Jan. 23.
The minister said that warplanes and long-range missiles remain the only weapon types allies are still reluctant to supply Ukraine with.
“You can already see some discussion of (supplying Ukraine with) war jets; that’s a new development,” said Kuleba.
“Once these (discussions) are moving as fast as the jets fly, we will, I hope, get a result very quickly.”
Earlier, Dutch Foreign Minister Wopke Hoekstra said the Netherlands would consider transferring F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, should Kyiv make a corresponding request.
