Suspected deserter opens fire on police officers with machine gun in Rostov Oblast, media report

An unidentified man fired a machine gun at Russian policemen on Dec. 6 in Russia’s Rostov Oblast near the Ukrainian border.
According to the pro-Kremlin Telegram channels, the incident took place by the customs post on the way out of the city of Novoshakhtinsk.
“A man in camouflage came out of the forest and started shooting with an AK-47...” the message reads.

According to some sources, the perpetrator could be a “suspect of desertion.”

As a result of the shooting, there are wounded among the Russian security troops, but their exact number is currently unknown.
