Sweden to provide Ukraine with Archer self-propelled guns and 50 IFVs

Sweden is preparing to transfer Archer self-propelled guns and 50 armored personnel carriers to Ukraine to fight against the Russian invasion forces, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said on Jan. 19, Danish online newspaper Nyheder reported on Jan. 19.
Kristersson said the weapons strengthened the support for Kyiv from Sweden.
Other details were not reported.
In Kyiv, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Sweden for the new package of military aid.
“CV90 IFVs, Archer self-propelled howitzers & NLAW ATGMs are powerful weapons that Ukrainian army needs to liberate our land from the Russian invader. Together to a common victory!” Zelesnkyy wrote on Twitter.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said that the Ukrainian military would quickly master the equipment transferred to Sweden.
“Even in the era of firearms, archers are useful for expelling invaders from Ukraine,”Reznikov joked on Twitter.
Kristersson previously stated that Archer remains Sweden’s top priority in helping Ukraine.
On Aug. 31, Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde announced that Sweden would consider sending Archer artillery systems and RBS70 anti-aircraft missile systems.
Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Western countries have provided Kyiv with unprecedented assistance, including military and financial aid.
