The Swiss government has approved a CHF 100 million (almost $100 million) winter aid action plan to finance urgent repairs to Ukraine's energy infrastructure, reads a Swiss government press release issued on Nov. 2.
This winter aid action plan includes the purchase of generators and spare parts, and contributing to the repair of rail tracks (for the transport of heavy goods such as grain).
Switzerland will also provide humanitarian aid to those worst affected by the war in Ukraine, helping them to prepare for winter, for example, by replacing windows, providing insulation and food, etc.
The Swiss government is also considering if it is possible to provide Ukraine with further relief goods, such as generators, pumps or water treatment installations. The Swiss Federal Council will submit a request to parliament for a supplementary credit of CHF 76 million to cover these costs.
