Teenage son of Zaporizhzhya official released from Russian captivity after 3 months

Vladyslav Buryak, 16-year-old son of the head of the Zaporizhzhya District State Administration Oleh Buryak, was released from captivity by the Russian occupiers, the Save Vlad Buryak Facebook page announced on July 7.

In the posted video, Oleh Buryak said that he was going home with his son and thanked everyone who helped free him.

The 16-year-old was abducted on April 8 at the checkpoint of the Russian invaders in Vasylivka during the movement of the evacuation column from occupied Melitopol to Zaporizhzhya. He was in captivity for 90 days.

In an interview with RFE/RL, Buryak said that his son did not want to leave Melitopol, where his grandfather, who was fighting stage four cancer, lived. The man died on April 8.
