Russia is establishing Territorial Defense volunteer units in Belgorod, regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said in a Telegram post on Dec. 6.
“We are forming several battalions of those, who – due to health or age – cannot be drafted into the army, but have combat experience and a great desire to defend their home and family,” said Gladkov.
According to the governor, training is ongoing all along Belgorod districts that border Ukraine, conducted by instructors who have gone through “a large number of local wars and have combat experience.”
On Dec. 4, Russian governors of Kursk and Belgorod regions, claimed that Ukraine has shelled a number of villages near the international border.
