Several tens of thousands of children remain with their parents in Donetsk Oblast, Pavlo Kyrylenko, the head of the Donetsk Oblast military administration, said on Nov. 30.

The statistics regarding minor children are “floating,” he said.

“In general, in Donetsk Oblast, several tens of thousands of children and their parents remain in the territory of the oblast,” Kurylenko said.

“Most of the children left territories where the communities are under constant shelling,” he added.

Children were evacuated from state social institutions at the beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

However, the head of the region added that mandatory evacuation cannot be forced, so families with children still remain in Donetsk Oblast.
