Three Russian soldiers were killed and four – wounded, in a series of explosions at Diaghilev and Engels military airbases, Russian Defense Ministry reported on Dec. 5.

Moscow has accused Ukraine of UAV attacks on the two airfields, located 500 and 700 kilometers beyond the Ukrainian border.

According to Russian news agency RIA Novosti, debris from Ukrainian drones fell on Russian airfields, which “slightly damaged the hulls of two aircraft.”

Diaghilev and Engels airbases both serve as staging grounds for Russia’s Tu-95 and Tu-142 strategic bombers, which are used to launch long-range cruise missiles at Ukraine.
