Invading Russian forces launched attacks on two local communities in Mykolaiv Oblast on Feb. 25, having hit the Black Sea waters near the town of Ochakiv and the coastline of the village of Kutsurub, the governor, Vitaliy Kim, said on Telegram on Feb. 26.

In total, there were five attacks during the period under review, the official said. Russians used multiple rocket launchers and artillery systems to attack.

No casualties were reported.

The day and night in the city of Mykolaiv itself, as well as in Pervomaisk, Voznesensk, and Bashtanka districts were relatively quiet, he added.

Earlier, the press secretary for Ukraine’s southern forces, Natalia Humeniuk, stated that the Kinburn Split, located in Mykolaiv Oblast, is currently a "gray area" due to constant, powerful strikes that has prevented Russian forces from gaining a foothold.

The Kinburn Split, a narrow strip of land between the Black Sea and the Dnipro-Buh estuary, has been a key battleground in the war, with Ukrainian forces determined to prevent Russian troops from gaining access to the mainland.
