Russian troops have violently dispersed a peaceful gathering of Ukrainiansin Kherson, who were protesting the Russian occupation of the city and Moscow’s plans to stage a sham “referendum” to establish a “Kherson People’s Republic” puppet authority, local news outlet Mist reported on April 27.
The invaders used flashbang and tear gas grenades to suppress the protest, injuring two civilians, an emergency medic told Ukrainian public broadcaster Suspilne.
“A 50-year-old man sustained injuries from a smoke grenade exploding near him, shattering the bones in his left leg,” the medic said. The man, who was blind, was walking with his wife near the protest gathering, on their way to the central post office.
“A 71-year-old woman suffered injuries and burns to her chest after her coat was set on fire by a nearby explosion of some kind.”
Both people are currently being treated in local healthcare facilities.
