Russia attacked southern Ukraine with Iranian-made Shahed-136/131 kamikaze drones in the early hours of Dec. 10, the Ukrainian Air Force reported, adding that 10 out of 15 were destroyed.
Units of the Air Command South of the Armed Forces of Ukraine shot down enemy drones over Kherson (four), Mykolaiv (four), and Odesa (two) oblasts.
The Air Command South also reported that Russians hit energy infrastructure facilities in Odesa Oblast, causing significant damage. Thousands of consumers were left without electricity. There is no information about possible victims. Rescue and repair teams are working at the site.
Earlier, the Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom to the United Nations, Barbara Woodward, said that Russia was trying to procure "hundreds" of ballistic missiles from Iran and offered in return "unprecedented" military and technical assistance.
On Dec. 9, the United States slapped sanctions on the Russian Aerospace Forces for the purchase of Iranian drones.
