US Attorney General arrives in Ukraine with unannounced visit

At the invitation of his Ukrainian counterpart, U.S. Attorney General Merrick garland made an unannounced visit to Lviv, Ukraine, Reuters reported on March 3, citing a U.S. Department of Justice official.
“The attorney general held several meetings and reaffirmed our determination to hold Russia accountable for crimes committed in its unjust and unprovoked invasion against its sovereign neighbor,” the official said.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also was Lviv on March 3, meeting with justice ministers of Ukraine’s partners and representatives of international institutions, discussing joint efforts to hold Russia accountable for its illegal aggression against Ukraine.
On the same day, the Netherlands and Ukraine announced a
joint project to document and register evidence of Russian war crimes in
Ukraine, while Ukraine’s Cabinet has approved an agreement with the International
Criminal Court (ICC) to open an ICC Office in Ukraine.
