After failing to achieve a breakthrough, Russian forces in Donbas are likely changing their operation plans for a further offensive in the region, the UK’s Defense Ministry said in an intelligence update on Twitter on Aug. 1.

The assessment notes that Russia attempted several assaults near Bakhmut, Donetsk Oblast, but their advance was very slow.

“As briefed by Ukrainian authorities last week, Russia is likely reallocating a significant number of its forces from the northern Donbas sector to southern Ukraine,” the message said.
