UK and Sweden to deliver 15 aircraft to Ukraine – Starmer

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that the U.K. will allocate £300 million to a joint project with Sweden to provide Ukraine with 15 new aircraft to strengthen the country's air defenses, speaking alongside President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv on July 16.
"Today, we are taking the next step," Starmer said as he announced funding for the aircraft package, which will be delivered in partnership with Sweden.
The British prime minister said he sees signs of changing attitudes in Moscow, arguing that Putin has been forced to acknowledge that his illegal war is creating serious domestic challenges.
Against that backdrop, Starmer said now is the right time to increase pressure on Russia.
U.K. military aid
Britain has also joined the European Union's €90 billion loan program to support Ukraine in 2026-2027.
On July 13, Starmer said that after a ceasefire takes effect, 25 countries would be prepared to deploy troops to Ukraine as part of peace guarantees.
On July 10, Bloomberg reported that the European Union planned to allow Ukraine to purchase British weapons using a separate €60 billion defense loan provided by the bloc.
