Recently assassinated Russian propagandist Daria Dugina was not an “innocent victim of war”, as recently claimed by Catholic religious leader Pope Francis, Ukraine’s Ambassador to the Holy See, Andriy Yurash, said on Twitter on Aug. 24.
“You can’t talk in the same categories about the aggressor and the victim, the rapist and the victim of rape,” the diplomat wrote.
“How can one of the ideologists of Russian imperialism be called an innocent victim?”
According to Pope Francis, Dugina, the daughter of fascist ideologue Alexander Dugin, who called for war against Ukraine and called its defenders "Nazis", is allegedly not guilty of anything - despite calling for the extermination of “Ukrainian subhumans.”
The Pope has previously met with the wives of the defenders of Azovstal, whom Dugina smeared as Nazis and called for their execution.
The Ukrainian diplomat also added that Dugina has become a martyr for Russia, and now “is on the shield of war” for Russian propaganda.
The car in which Daria Dugina was traveling on, after leaving a gathering of ultra-right nationalists, was blown up near Moscow on Aug. 20.
The Russian security forces (FSB) immediately blamed the Ukrainian intelligence services for the assassination, lying that a Ukrainian resident of Mariupol, who had abducted to Russia along with her 12-year old daughter and family cat, had been responsible. The Mariupol resident had managed to escape to Estonia prior to the FSB’s baseless allegations.
