Ukraine has returned another 50 of its soldiers from Russian captivity, Presidential Chief-of-Staff Andriy Yermak announced on the Telegram messenger on Dec. 1.
“Another large prisoner swap has taken place,” he said.
“We have released 50 defenders of Ukraine.”
According to Yermak, those released included Ukrainian soldiers who were captured in the city of Mariupol, and in the Donetsk, Luhansk and Zaporizhya sections of the front, as well as those kept in a prison colony in Olenivka, Donetsk Oblast.
“We’re returning the defenders of Mariupol and the Azovstal Steelworks, we’re returning prisoners who were in Olenivka, those wounded, in particular, in battles in areas of Donetsk, Luhansk and Zaporizhzhya,” the official said.

“It’s a big job that continues every day. We’ll work until the last Ukrainian citizen is released.”
In total, Ukraine has already returned 1,319 of its defenders, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s spokesman Sergii Nykyforov wrote on Facebook, citing the Ukrainian leader.
