Ukraine building its largest french fry plant in Cherkasy Oblast

Construction crews have begun installing the steel wall and roof structures for the first phase of Ukraine's largest potato processing plant at the Biosense industrial park in Cherkasy Oblast, Dmytro Kysylevskyy, deputy chair of the Verkhovna Rada's Committee on Economic Development, reported on Facebook on July 21.
"Production equipment has already been delivered to Ukraine. Investment in the plant's first phase, which will produce potato flour, totals 960 million hryvnias ($21.5 million)," Kysylevskyy said. "Production with a capacity of 25,000 tons per year is planned to launch by late 2026 or early 2027."
Once the first phase is complete, Ukraine will meet domestic demand and become an exporter of potato flour, a product currently not manufactured in the country, Kysylevskyy said.
A second phase, planned for 2027, will add french fry production with a capacity of 60,000 to 150,000 tons per year, requiring an investment of 2.5 billion hryvnias (about $55.9 million).
"The plant's third phase, which will also produce french fries, will require an investment of around 3 billion hryvnias ($67 million)," Kysylevskyy said. "In addition, the industrial park's development plan includes building a 20,000-ton potato storage complex, a facility to process potato peels into protein and starch, and a greenhouse complex paired with a cogeneration unit."
Separately, the company Agroprodservice has begun construction of a new animal feed plant with a grain elevator complex at the Western Ukrainian Industrial Hub in the village of Ostriv, in Ternopil Oblast.
